We all realize what a treasure we have with our natural resources. That's why we live here and our respect and love for the outdoors is what makes us so special. The idea of drilling for oil off of the coast of our state is not an idea whose time has come, it is an idea whose time will never come, at least if I have anything to say about it.

We need to make sensible choices that benefit all of us for the long term and resist short-sighted political decisions whose real cost becomes clear only generations later - that's what good government is all about.

To all of us, securing the future means different things. It means enjoying hiking trails in our state parks, it means biking with our families and to others it means being able to walk to a playground and watch our kids enjoy playing with their friends.

My job is to ensure that we always have the ability to do this and to ensure that both the funding for our state and local parks as well as the maintenance for those parks is a priority for state government.
